Hello everybody, for almost 2 years I was mastering revit architecture 2012 and I today I have downloaded a long expected Revit Architecture 2014, but alas....I've faced with a great disappointment, it has a lot of weak point that was expected to be improved like:
-MATERIAL SAGA-RENDERING-NOT TOO MUCH CHANGED apart from logo
Honestly, I was expecting something more developed...Maybe I just need some time on master it to my level of Architecture 2012 versionIF YOU HAVE UR OWN OPINION, MY APPRECIATIONS...

I don't understand. I'm sure Revit 2014 is equal to Revit 2012. All of your Revit 2012 mastering skills can be used in
Revit 2014, so you lost nothing there. If you are on subscription you will lose nothing there. Revit 2014 has some
great new useful features. If you are on Revit 2012 and there are things in that version you expected to be improved
in Revit 2014 and they haven't, your wait might may be perpetual. I think Autodesk has been doing a fantastic job
with Revit as a whole and Revit 2014 as a specific. That's my 2 cent for what it's worth.

Alright, but hte problem is that it got very bad in terms of material and rendering...
Though, the structural part is good, but it was that SUPER quality renderfull workflow, but now it's getting closer to archiCAD....I was waiting for release for like 6 month... hope i'm mistaken...

I haven't seen any diminish in the quality of the renderings. I like the changes and additions from 2013 to 2014 so I really like the changes from 2012 to 2014

Im sorry but your comments are wrong. The rendering quality and ability to render has actually gotten easier with the newer releases- though different we are now on the right track with 2014- quality is at its best- we are able to do all that 2012 is able to do plus we have the added benefit of rendering in the cloud at high resolutions... so from a design standpoint the software cannot be beat. And thats not to mention the updates to the architectural side of the program- In my personal opinion you need to re-think your ways of doing things if its a struggle- or the ones who are keeping up with the latest versions will crush your designs in only a matter of years. Again all MY OPINIONS- no hard feelings.

I think the problem here is 'materials' not rendering. Managing Materials changed significantly from 2012 to 2013 to 2014.
The 2013 materials dialog box was a complete disaster. It took me a year to figure out and when I finally did 2014 switched back to the 2012 dialog box style but kept all the 'Assets' parts that got brought in 2013. I can understand the frustration.
Rendering changed very little where as managing and creating Materilas change a great deal. Once you understand how the new dialog box works with the project materials verses libraray materials and how they relate to the new 'Assets' it all comes together.
Check these two posts.

i tihnk for people only trying to get a pretty picture out of revit they dont take into consideration that the materials function in revit is actually a physical material database for more than just rendering therefore it needs to be more complex than that. revit was not made for rendering, its not an animation software, it never will be. if you dont like revit for the renderings than you are using the wrong software becuase it will always have its short comings. on the plus side.... for a BIM program i think it does fantastic renderings

The biggest difference between 2012 and 2014 is not just the combinations of all revit suites, but in 2014 autodesk is pushing its rendering processes through autodesk 360. If I were you I'd render through there, it is a cloud based rendering so you no lnger have to rely on your cpu ram to process the renderings.
