Working on the 2nd floor I can not get the first fllor to show up as an underlay. I have checked everything I can think of. The building pad shows up but no first floor walls are visible. i now it is something simple but I can not sem to put my finger on it.

If your view range gives you the option of the first floor as underlay, it is probably there if selected. Check your phase setting on the view range. For a quick look, set the phase to Show all. If it doesn't show up then, you need to post more info on what you have tried, view range settings. etc.

I've had similar problems underlaying levels with some elements, usually the walls not showing and these have been my walkarounds. I usually change the view properties of the (in you case the 2nd floor) so as the view bottom and depth are set to the bottom of level 1 and then use the linework tool on the elements i wish to see, then reset the view range when i'm finished. Another method is to create a temporary level in approximately the same position as the level below then underlay that level and use the line work tool and once you've finished you can delete the level. I've never really explored why these elements don't display sometimes when underlayed???
Cheers,
Chris.
