I've downloaded a 30 day trial and when using the roof join/unjoin, I am unable to select any roof edges. Status Bar says: "Select an edge at the end of the roof that you wish to join or unjoin".... but nothing selects... Any clues? Thanks

try putting your cursor on the edge and use the "Tab" key to see if it's picking...
can you see your roof edge in your view? make sure your view depth is set correctly...

Thanks for the reply: I shaded the 3D view with edges enhanced and I can click or tab, but no response at all. I then have to hit escape a number of times to cancel the join before I can move on to some other command. I've tried dragging windows across the entire model, but still nothing gets picked.
Any help would be appreciated!!!

I'm using two books to self teach. Both have you create two roofs via footprint and then join them. Are you saying it isn't possible to join two roofs created in this manner? Thanks!

Of course its possible but its not automatic. You'll need to create the roof footprints so they account for each other.
A picture really would help....

Got it to work. I picked all four sides of the footprint with the "defines slope" option checked. When I unchecked the "defines slope" option for the footprint segment that faces the roof I want to eventually join, the "finish roof" process creates a verticle face towards the roof I want to join. When I follow through on the join tool, it is quite happy with the edges on this verticle section and works as advertised. Thanks for the help!
