can I have separate area plans for each design option?

I get this incomprehensible message ... "Areas and Area Boundaries are not allowed in Design Options. Make an Area Scheme and an Area Plan for this Option then draw all Areas and Area Boundaries in that view."

Did you know that you can lock what DO is on in a view instead of being automatic?  VG settings

i got this advice from silidcad in Toronto:

1. You cannot add area schemes to design options. 2. To perform area analysis with different design optionsa. create multiple area schemes. b. Create an area plan for each area schemec. set the area plan view visibility to show the desired options3. While editing the main modela. create all area calculation boundaries and tags in that area plan view.

I have a related question. I'll state my objective first. I wanted to create an Occupant Load Schedule for two different Design Options. I figured out that it is not possible to do this, and you have to use Area Schemes/Area Plans. This is where my headaches started. How, exactly, do you do this? I was able to create a new Area Scheme for a single Design Option, but then couldn't get beyond that. Can someone list a workflow showing how to go from using a Design Option to setting up an Area Scheme that will allow me to make an Occupant Load Schedule for that Design Option? Do I need to create a Schedule fist? The mre I research this, the more confusing it gets, go figure.

Thank you in advance.

Set up two different plan views, each with one of the design options.   Then create an area plan with each of those.
