Very new to revit, trying to get an understanding so bear with me.
I would like to set up a new project for MEP coordination. My question/issue is this:
If I open a new arch model and detach from central I have full comntrol/access over model as far as display settings, hiding layers and such. If I create an MEP new project and link in the model I lose that control. I cannot for instance "Hide" the "Furniture" on a floor plan. The options are greyed out.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? How do I control the visisbility of a lionked file?
Thanks,
Don

Linked model VG is controlled per view in VG......You will see a seperate tab for linked files, then new VG settings for each file.

I am in the Revit Linked Tab and all of the options are greyed out.
See attached screen shot.

On the main line of that "Test model" - click on the "By host model" - change it to custom - then in the model tab - change that to custom and do what you want.
BTW - you should also turn off the linked files annotative items like grids and levels.

For what it's worth, view template 'discipline' affects what you see in your view too. When I link files in for coordination I have my view discplines are set to 'coordination'.
'Linked' views can be useful if you want to overlay a specific view over your own view...for whatever reason.
Cheers,

Because you are new to Revit, you may not know that Revi's HELP is very good. The problem is how to search it. Use simple, one word searches, then modify as needed. Searching linked gets you this topic which would have explained all of this to you.
