Hi! I'm new to this forum as well as Revit. I'm hoping this website will help me with some of the problems that can occur with Revit. I am using Revit 2013 Ultimate on Win 7 Pro 64. My problem right now is I don't seem to have any access to the Forms Tab or the Detail Sketch Tab! Not sure if I've missed some kind of Add-on. I am trying to cut the inside perimeter of my Grade Beam 2"x 5" to support part of my 5" Floor Slab. I figured that a simple sweep cut or (Void) cut would do the trick but am not sure if this is even the right approach.
Thanks
Paul Rymal

You don't say how much experience you have so we usually start at the beginning.
Do you know how to mdel in-place?
Do you mean you are missing the following?

Hi I've been using Revit for just over a year now but mainly on a learning mode. I took a 1 week course through our Autodesk dealer on "Revit Architecture". Then I spent close to $700.00 on Ascent Training manuals for Revit Arch, Struct & MEP I've gone through all but the MEP & the BIM book. What a learning curve, but I'm slowly getting a feel for it. Sure need the support though. The image you have shown in your reply is exactly what is missing. I've tried to reload my Tools etc. from my Software but still can't find any add-ons. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Paul

That toolbar does not come up until you start the model in place process. Component / model-in-place.

Gotcha! Thanks! I talked to Autodesk & they said the problem was I had to download "Exrtensions"! That didn't do much. This is why forums are so important especially with this program. Do you have any suggestions as to how I would do a simple swept (void) around the inside perimeter of my grade beam. Its simply a square cutout 2" wide & 5" deep on the inside portion of the grade beam for the slab to rest on.
Thanks again!
Paul

This is not really a classroom. You need to do some research on how you create objects. Get a book and read your Help. There are a lot of videos out there to. Come back if you run into a particular problem.

This is like an Augi forum however your not asking a question on a problem or why something won't work, you are asking how to do it. The best way to find out how to do something is either try it and see what happens or look in your help. Look up Sweeps and Void Geometry and try out a few different options. If you cant figure it out you will get more help once you tell us what you tried to do and errors you are getting etc.
