I have just recived a large 620MB revit file. This MEP file seems very large and hard to work with. what is the typical file size limit for MEP projects?

Was this just MEP or MEP with arch & struct bound into it and no linked files?

How big is the project? That seems very big. Are their a bunch of imported/linked elements from CAD or Revit?

620MB is MASSIVE. Is this all the MEP for an entire airport or perhaps a 1000 unit condo building or something. What is the project of ? Haven't come accross a model that big in all my travels.

it is a public safety building, not that big only 2 floors. it looks like the problem is there are corrupted items within the MEP file. a error mesage says items are corrupted" is now showing

Ok well that's kind of heed news. There's no way a building that size should produce a file that size.
See if you can get the Element ID if the problematic objects. REVIT will let you locate objects by Element ID.
Then delete / replace / fix them.

This may be a Revit file but with a 3D CAD import.
