I am using Revit 2013 and can join beams, already in revit, at corners (45 degree angle) however I created a new family beam and am having trouble joining them at the corners. I have already tried the join geometry and join beams commands.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

You created a beam family? You haven't really given us enough information. What sort of beam (can you attach the family), what is happening when you try to join them at the corners? Can you attach some images of your problem?
