Several months ago we had a proffesional trainer in the office teaching a goup of us Revit for almost a week. He used / gave us all copies of the Accent Begginer & Intermediate training manuals. While all the matarial he taught was out of the manuals, I don't think our training would have been nearly as productive with out having him there to teach us.

Training....
If I might make a suggestion to this topic. As much as you can teach yourself, it will pay you greater dividends in the end to have a professional trainer come in and instruct you. We've gone through both styles in our 55 person firm (self-taught & trainer) and hands down.. we learned so much more from the trainer. I can't speak highly enough of our trainer and others who are certified by Autodesk. I know for small firms this can be a daunting task with the fees, but what you will gain in productivity will greatly offset this cost within your first year.
I'm not aware or familiar of the Ascent courseware, so I can't comment directly. There are some other good sources such as Tomdinmn mentions. We've used CDV Systems Courseware inhouse (as listed on his site).
Hope this helps,
Kyle
