No theres no other point clouds in there already, the model was originally built from 2D CAD Drawings.
I've found a work around but it's very tedious:
I've realised that I can import into a new Project the cloud Origin to Origin. The cloud comes in asuming that the project base point is 0,0 (Surely it would make much more sence if it recognised the survey point as 0,0), so I get my Cloud people to change the ucs in the cloud to my project base point coordinates.
Then I import to a new project Origin to Origin draw a line from the Project base point directly verticle or horizontal, then copy and paste the cloud and line into main project at selected level (selecting a level with 0 elevation)
Then rotate the cloud and line at the project base point with the line as a reference to get it back to how it was in the new project. This gets the cloud exactly where it should be.
Although this all works okay it seems rather long winded, surely there is a simpler method or I'm missing something really obvious, i would expect to just link the cloud with Shared coordinates and it should import just like a CAD file. Oh just to add I have the exact same problem with a text fileswhen i use them for topo. Only when I specify a project North though, If I just work without selecting an aligned project north and leave project/true north alone, things import fine.
