We have a new guy in the office we are running through the Revit tutorials and he has run into a hitch on the Massing tutorial. The Revit Tutorial starts the user out with a pad located on a site that is supposed to be used to generate the mass shape. The tutorial has the user enter the massing command then select the edges of the pad by tabbing to the chain of lines to create the mass shape. The problem comes when finishing the mass there are 4 errors:
2 are "Pads can't overlap (but can share edges)"(there is only one pad in the project and that is part of the tutorial file), an error "Can't regenerate Family Mass 2. Edit Family to modify it." and "Mass contains no solid geometry. Mass Floors, volume, and surface area, won’t be computed."
I'm guessing it is the error in regards to the Pad edges that keeping the mass from being generated, but I can't seem to get Revit to complete the mass following the steps in the tutorial. I have found a couple ways to generate the mass one being to draw detail lines around the pad perimeter then hiding the pad and then making the mass using the detail lines, the other to make a mass of the approximate shape of the pad off to the side then using the align command to move the mass into position. If all possible I would like to get our trainee to learn it by the book before indoctrinating him into work arounds.

The tutorial is for Revit 2010, that I got from Autodesk's subscription center. We are using Revit 2011 there were some minor changes from 2010 to 2011 so we have continued to use it for training purposes.
