I've never seen this before and I cant seem to fix it, the first and third levels are greyed out and the middle level looks fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I don't exaclt know what that means, sorry. I am pretty new to revit.

Read up on phasing in your help, it will be useful in future projects.  Under Phasing in your properties you can set elements and whole floor plans to existing, demo, new construction etc. depending on what is set up.  Go to your first floor plan and see what the phasing is set at compared to the second floor plan.  In your 3D view try changing the Phase to project completion and see if they all end up looking the same.
