If i want the orange area painted ... what would be the best way to calculate the area in Revit and make a schedule. can it be done within Revit or is there an extension that can do this for me. NB. i am not interested in painting behind the cabinets or calculating by hand

You can do a material take-off but Revit will calculate the area behind the cabinets unless you modify the model.

You can split the face of a wall and paint a different material.
