Can anyone tell me what the best hatch kit/builder software there is to download. Also, in these software programs, are there pre- loaded (downloadable) patterns or do you have to create your own from scratch each time?
Thank you!
Brian

I've used Hatch22 a few times and it seems to work just fine.

Today we are pleased to release a public beta of HatchKit 2014 for all interested to try and perhaps comment while we ready final release versions.Link: http://www.hatchkit.com.au/hk2014betaofferform.phpHatchKit 2014 Beta will work alongside existing HatchKit installations.
HatchKit 2014 Beta works as a standalone application or will integrate with the HatchKit Add-In for Revit that is available from the Revit store at Autodesk Exchange. Link: http://apps.exchange.autodesk.com/RV...kitadd-in%3aen
The HatchKit Add-in for Revit allows large patterns exceeding the constraints on scale imposed by Revit's pattern import wizard to be loaded. HatchKit 2014 and the HatchKit Add-In for Revit work together to allow building a hatch pattern template (the entities repeated to for a pattern) within Revit, manage its passage to HatchKit for pattern arrangement and generation and, on return, bring the finished pattern into Revit for immediate use within the current project.

Our HatchKit Add-In for Revit 2016 is now available from AutoDesk's Revit Exchange:

Here is a Youtube video I made to show how to make a custom pattern in Hatchkit:

Thanks for the Hatchkit customer service tip on how to do this.
I do wish it was easier to figure out on my own, but it still worked great for me today.

These observations and others posted elsewhere are based on 40 minute's experience with HatchKit and reflects dismay with its lack of an explicit othogonal freehand sketching ability.
However:
-
HatchKit for Revit allows pattern templates to be prepared with Revit's full set of 2D drafting cpabilities in a similar fashion to hatch-22 but is not restriicted to a rectangular tile.
-
the HatchKit editor allows rectangles to be drawn freehand and unwanted sides to be deleted or entitiies to be snapped to an othogonal grid
I welcome suggestions as to where our further forum presence would benefit - apart from a long-standing interest right here at RevitCity and further YouTube video will come, possibly in time for Revit 2018 for which we expect to provide a corresponding add-in.
BTW our latest version of the add-in for Revit 2013 to 2017 is free and now allows creation of rescaled or rotated versions of any existing pattern within a project - even in the absence of HatchKit itself.
