Having trouble with visabilty of linked revit files in sections and elevations (showing up in some views but not others)?
Try increasing your cut depth to 500 or 1000 feet.

You don't have to do this. Something else is wrong in your model.

Are the linked files in 'wroksets' ?
I don't actually fully understand the problem as illustrated.

WWHub,
Look at the pctures. The only thing that is different between the two views is the clip depth setting. The section is cut thru the structure model. We have had identical problems on several different jobs, with different kinds of models (site, structure) on several different machines, with several different people. The problem is always the same, the fix is always the same. I can re-create the view, and the linked model will show, but that is another work around and not an assurance that it won't disappear again.
How else could you explain that?

dgcad,
The problem is that on occasion, for no apparent reason, a linked file will not display (in this case it is illustrated by the sloped structural floor- cut hatch solid gray) unless I change the cut dpeth to some expanded range (which often then displays things far off in the background which are unwanted).
I made no change in the worksets display between the two pictures.

You have a video card issue.

We have the same problem over a range of computers with different video cards.

If it were a video card issue, I would suspect the same performance on similar views. If I re-create the view by dropping a new section/ elevation, it "fixes" the problem. If I duplicate the view, it doesn't "fix" the problem. At any rate, it is an isolated event- when it occurs it only occurs to a few views, not all the views.

Also, check the view 'discipline'. Set it to 'coordination'

dgcad,
He is working in Architectural and I have not seen any real improvement switching to coordination in an architectural model.
Note that he says a new view works. That implies a few possibilities.
- The view is corrupt
- The original view has some filters or over-rides
- It is a vieo card issue. << Look at the view from a different machine that has a different card. Also - What plots?

dgcad,
I did not change the view discipline between the two instances, so it is not the problem (I changed it to coordination just to double check).
The only thing that I changed was the view depth ("far clip offset"), so somehow, the issue has to be tied to that... or there is a bug.

By the images I'm assuming you're having problems with the Structure Model, Try this, open the view that you're having problems with then open the visibility graphics overrides and click on Revit Links Tab and change your Linked model discipline to structure. then on the same window click on model categories (you will notice that all elements are not availabe) and change the model categories from <by host view> to <custom>, this will make all elements available.

The only setting difference that is required to make the structure model (linked model) visable in the view is to change the "far clip offset" to anything over 133'. This precludes the possibility of any other setting causing the issue. See images below.
If the view is "corrupt" then we are back to fixes and work arounds to the problem, for which setting the "far clip offset" is one.
What "corrupts" a view?

Far clip offset is not a work around for a corrupt view. Make a new view - all 2D stuff can be transfered in less than 5 minutes.

changing the offset took only a second.
Am I to infer that I can expect view to become corupt and that I will need to re-create views from time to time (that the program is buggie)?
