Hi all,
Another probably elementary question for you all.
I am just doing some 2d families and want to align the shapes (symbolic lines) to the wall face so that they 'stick' to the wall, no matter how thick the wall is. I am using the Metric Electrical Fixture wall based template but can't seem to align geometry to the wall face, especially circles for light switches.
Can anyone help at all? I have googled the subject, but nothing relevant has come up.
Many thanks,
Lee

If you can, use a face based template.
If you use a wall based, add a reference plane away from the face of the wall and build your family around that. Then add a dimension from the face of the wall to that RP. Click on the RP and change that dim to 0 and everything should now work.

Thank you, as ever, WWHub.
I have done what you have suggested but am still struggling to get circles to 'lock' the the reference plane. I move via quadrant but never get a padlock. Am I doing something obvioulsy wrong?
Thanks.

Think I may have figured it out --- I made two half circles and by moving the via end point of one of the arc, this seems to work, I still don't get the padlock, but it moves in relation to the RP.

Just something to remember.
You don't always need padlocks because Revit works a lot with association. That is why you were having problems. What you had originally created was associated with the center of the wall rather than the face. By using a RP, you can assure it does not do that. Secondly, the RP needs to be there before you add anything. Remember - Revit means you have to plan ahead. RP first then other elements. No need most times for locks.

Another way:
Create the CIRCLE (symbolic line), move the circle to the face of the wall then create a dimension (face of the wall to the center of the circle) and LOCK
