I am trying to create an arched opening in a curved wall (see attachements for desired floor plan configuration and elevation). I have attempted to create a mass and then attach the storefront wall to that face but am having trouble getting the mass into the correct shape in the first place. I have tried several methods but the most successful have been creating two seperate masses using these conditions:
1. One rectangular mass that follows the footprint of the wall and then one arched mass that is then trimmed with a void form to match the footpring of the wall. This is succuessful to this point but I am unable to join these two gemometries in order to make a singular face in order to attach my storefront.
2. One rectangular mass that follows the footprint of the wall and then one that is drawn in an elevation workplane using the "Draw Lines on Face" command. This seemed to create the arched portion of my window in a radius to match the wall except that I received this error: "The mass contains geometry that cannot be combined. Mass floors, volume, and surface area won't be computed." In this case I cannot select this face to attach the storefront wall.
Can anyone help explain if I am going about this wrong or have some tips in order to make the correct mass geometry? Thanks!
I am working in Revit 2012.

One possible solution is to make the curved wall as a model in-place, with an extrusion for the wall, and en extruded vault for the void. Then, the window could be done with a divided surface, starting from a generic model adaptive template, using the same dimensions of the void. Then, this window would be loaded into the project, and placed inside the model-in-place wall.

No need to create two masses, Create the mass in "Elevation" view then goto a "plan" view and create a Void to cut the mass...
now apply curtain wall by face.
