hello,
I want to creat different grids on each level of my building, and therefore, to be able to display the floor number under the grid name, inside the grid head circle.
A
F033
B
F033
etc...
I tried to start creating a new grid head family type, but could not get around to creating a lable which would take the current level and display it along with the grid name....
any ideas??
Thank you!

Grids are not associated with levels and therefore can't read them...and I don't understand why you would?
If you want separately named grids at each level, you will have to create separate grids.

The levels on the grids is part of some requirements, as the grid varies per floor.
We are probably not going to use revit grids, but create our own adaptive objects to do this....

Hello,
We are having no luck trying to create our own grid line annotation objects...
I makes me wonder if it is even possible.
I am sure however that it is possible to create different grid lines per floorplans. But how? Our grid is radial, so they don't appear on the elevations (my first move would be to move the extents of the grid on the elevation view)...
how to change which floorplan each grid affect??
Thank you
Daniel

As I said before - no ... grids are not associated with levels!
Still trying to understand what you are trying to do - you are not very clear. You have circular column grids - not a problem.
You have seperate grids at each level???? << I am assuming a concentrical sloping grid is what you are trying to do.
If so, do seperate worksets for grids on seperate levels.

alright. sorry for the lack of clarity. we have to put a 450m tower model from Rhino into Revit for the next phase of our project (DD). Our tower has a geometry which makes each flooplan different. It has also 8 megacolumns that run along the facade, aligned with it. They are, therefore, slanted.
out of revit we have to get floorplans for this tower. Over 100 floors. And of course each flooplan has to have a column grid indicaton. And as our columns are slanted and the floorplans change at each elevation, so does the column grid.
Now Revit is absolutely not intuitive when it comes to do something out of the ordinary. We already got far enough as to be able to create adaptive families to draw our megacolumns. And trust me, the lack of proper documentation on adaptive families did not help.
Now we have to figure the grid out. That´s also being a nightmare, and we are considering drawing each floor by hand. Don't even want to think about how is it going to be if we need to change anything on the megacolumns.
You might thing this all sounds a bit unprofessional. How come we are doing such a large scale project with newbies in Revit. True. China, language problems, disappointing chinese BIM consultants. All add to it.
I searched all over. But it seems no one ever tried to do this before, or, like us, never had any difficulties doing this before. Or it is so obvious and it's right under our noses, I don't know.
But hey, if you can give me any more hints, I'll thank you forever!
You said separate workset for grids on separate levels. ok. I will look into that tomorrow.
Thank you anyway...
D.

Have you looked into scope boxes? I haven't used them much, but it sounds like the sort of thing they are there for. As for the levels in the grid bubbles, that's not going to be automatic, but you should be able to create a new label that you can fill in manually.

just a quick update.
after breaking our head with this issue we decided Revit is not made for this. Once we have everything modeled in Revit, it works wonders. So we are working with Grasshopper on a parametric model which exports to Revit via Hummingbird.
Changes are then made in Grasshopper, and all geometry is imported into revit and placed in place.
thanks anyway for the help...
