Hi,
i am using Revit Architecture 2011 and have encountered a problem. I have bird deterrant posts around the perimeter of a flat roof i am working on. these have been modelled using generic models and the wire connecting them has been done using the railing tool. Please see attached 3D view of this
The problem I am having is that the posts that i have highlighted on the attached are not showing on plan. I am sure it is to do with the cut plane but I don't know why. The offset of these particular generic models are 5630mm from the associated level. If i was to change these to an offset of 5800mm, they show on plan. However I can't do that as they will not look right in 3D or in elevation. It just doesnt make sence as to why this is happening.
The view range of the plan is-
Top: Unlimed
Cut plane: Associated Level. Offset 8000mm (more than enough)
Bottom (and view depth level the same): Level below. Offset: 0.0
Thanks in advance,
kieran

p.s. there is no hidden elements in the model that are covering the generic model (say, at offset 5700mm, for example). I checked for this

Information you did not give:
Is the category on in the view?
Is the family set to show something in plan?
Is the family built with symbollic linework rather than 3D elements in plan? If so, then is this object hosted at a level below the surface? Your roof can be covering symbollic linework.
Is the element in a workset or design option that is not on in plan?

the category is on in the view
the family is set to show all the extrusions in plan view
the family is built with a combination of an extrusion and a sweep. both of which are visible in plan
the element is on the same workset as the others and we have not used design options
it is also the same phase as all the others
in the plan, most of the same family are showing but it is just a select few (the ones i highlighted) that aren't and, as i said, when i change the offset of the family to make it slightly higher, it shows in the plan. this is how i know that it must have something to do with the view range for some reason. i set the cut plane to 50000mm above the associated (much much more than should be required) and it still doesn't show.
i have found a solution, but it isn't a very satisfying one. the level of this roof is at level 6. the associated level of the plan was at level 5 (this is why i had the cut plane so high above. 8m should be more than enough). i have re-made the plan by duplicating a level 7 view with the bottom of the view range being unlimited. This now shows all the families correctly in plan.
thanks for your help anyway,
kieran
