This is my first time posting here so I hope this isn't a dumb question...
I am able to create a custom material and render it it 2013, but when I try to duplicate the material and create a second material the appearance graphic and display graphic are nto the same. I have two separate materials in my material browser, but when i try to render a carpet and tile next to each other they show up as the same material. I must be doing somehting wrong, but any assitnace would be great beacuse i feel the 2012 Material editor was so much easier to use.

you are duplicating it in the "material browser" you need to double click it to open the "material editor" from there under assets you can either duplicate and change the appearance or replace the material
