Hi there.

I am currently using Revit 2012 on Windows 7.

I'm wondering if it's possible to change the "track" location of a bifold door using parameters available in the family. (See attached)

As you can see in the first diagram, the track is located "externally" which means that the bi-fold door would be completely exposed outside of the building.

In the second diagram, the track is located in the "centre" of the wall (200 Conc. Block used for this example) allowing the bi-fold door to be evenly exposed both internally & externally of the building.

We would like to have the flexibility to change this to suit each of our projects but I am a little lost as to how to go about it / if it can be done within the one door family.

If it is possible to do this, would it be better to use Symbolic lines which will change when the "external track" or "central track" is selected? Or would it be easier to simply use the 3D door panels which will be visible in Plan/RCP & When cut in Plan/RCP (if category permits).

I will be surprised if Revit allows you to do this other than creating two seperate families:

- One with the track externally

- One with the track central

If you have any tips or information available, could you please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Build your family around a reference plane that is initially well outside your wall.  Then add dimensions to this plane from the face of the wall and set that dimension to a label so you can modify it.
