We have not yet made the switch to 2013 on any of our projects but thinking about it for new ones.  After yesterday though, I am seriously thinking about waiting.

AutoDESK has completely altered how assigned view templates work.  Here are the facts as I know them now.

  • You can still assign a view template to a view.
  • Once assigned, the view is locked to those settings and can not be altered without altering the view template.
  • "Apply default view template to all views" is NO LONGER AVAILABLE

I think they dummy downed this process to satisfy users complaints about people changing VG settings after template assignment although this was easily controlled by applying the default view template to all views.  << This took a project manager with slightly more on the ball than Yogi Bear.

I'm MAD!  I know users will remove the view template assignment from views so they can see something then not re-assign it.

WRITE TO AUTODESK AND COMPLAIN!  This process is wrong.

Agreed. I always have trouble with view templates now in 2013.
