I just recently built a louver system using the extrusion technique and set a material in the parameters. Once i brought it into my project and inserted the louver system into my building, the material i chose does not show up in the renderings. Even when I change the material to something different, it simply shows up grey in the renderings. Is there any way to make the material of the louver system I created show up in renderings?

In the family - you have to assign the material to the objects.
Once loaded - THE PROJECT RULES.... see other posts about changing materials.

I have changed the material in edit type, i have changed it in the family, and no matter where I change it or what I
change it to, it just does not show up in the renderings. I restarted the louver system and made sure to assign a
material early in the process and this did not help either. Any other suggestions?

I have changed it in my project multiple times and used multiple different materials and it still ceases to show up in renderings. The program says that the material is wood, but when I render the project, it shows up as grey.

Please do this exactly....
- Open the family in the family editor.
- Click on an solid in the family.
- In the properties of that extrusion, look at the material.
- Post an image of the properties so we can see it.

If you make your materials instance parameters, then you can address them on the fly in the project. The project will over-rule what the family has.
