Hi everyone!
I'm currently running Revit Architecture 2012, Student Edition, and it's acting a bit wierd when selecting objects. For instance, when I've created a floor and later on I want to modify it. Normaly, I would simply click on the floor and hit "edit footprint". Easy. The thing is, now when I click on the floor, the "edit footprint" button doesnt appear. And it's the same thing with all types that calls to the green modify-menu.
I have found a work-around though, I click the object - the Modify|Roofs ribbon appear (but not the "edit footprint" button), then I click the "minimize to all tabs" four times, which just cycles through the different layouts for the ribbonmenu, and when I get back to the "normal" setting - voila, the edit footprint button appears.
Now, let's say I've done the procedure mentioned, and now I want to edit my roof instead of the floor. I click on the roof, but now it's the edit footprint related to the floor that appears. Which does nothing now. So again, cycle throug and now I can edit my roof.
My guess is that this is just a simple setting of some sort. But I can't figure it out. Please help, kind of frustrating.
Best regards
Nicklas

I've also tried the Revit 2013, and it's the same issue.
I'm running Windows 8, 64-bit version, and I've tried running both programs as admin.

If you are having problems in both 2012 and 2013, then it is probably a process problem. Make sure you are selecting the correct element. Are you watching what you are selecting as reported in the lower left corner?

Yes it does.
I start the "basic sample project" in revit 2013. Hoover over the roof, bottom left corner says "Roofs: Bais Roof: Metal Panels". I click it, and the Edit Footprint actually appears, I click it and the purple/pink boundrys appear, so far so good - but now the problem comes. The "Edit footprint" button is still there, the menue that let's me accept/decline or the menus for choosing line, square or whatever tool I want to edit my footprint with are not there.
So, again I cycle through with the "minimize to panels button" four times, and now the correct menu appears.
Having done that, I click accept and there's the same problem, now that menue is kind of stuck. Again I cycle through and the correctu menu is there.
Now I want to edit the Topogrophy, I hoover over and yes, at the bottom left corner it says "Typography: Surface". I click it, it get's highlithed but now the "edit footprint" button appears, so I cycle through and there it is, "Edit surface".
This is really strange.
