I am using Revit 2012 and I applied a hatch to the cladding material of my exterior walls and it worked out find except one wall. All of these walls were made by using the "model by face" command, where I modeled a mass and projected the walls from the faces of the mass as there are some angled walls. The hatch on one of the angled walls is distorted, making it look like the wall is buldging out or something. I tried to align the hatch but it won't straighted out the curve. The wall is not curved so I don't know what's happening. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Ksenia

These walls look like they could have been normal walls.... but that is something to learn.
I suggest you look hard at your model. This and other walls appear to be warped. That is a problem that can happen when working in 3D views rather than view normal to the surface planes. You need to fix your mass.

It's hard to see in this picture but the walls are rotated along the z axis. I couldn't see a way to do that with the regular wall feature. And believe me, I've poured a lot of time into that stupid mass trying to get it 100% accurate. I bet it's not 100% right but it's not doing what this image makes it look like it's doing.. The hatch I mean. The hatch is warped but the wall itself isn't... those three walls are all aligned. It makes itself into a separate wall in the middle because of that jog at the bottom in the mass.
Also, I never worked on the mass in 3D. I always drew reference lines and planes and went to different elevations and sections.
Anyways, I can see if i can fix the mass but this hatch still seems really wonky for not much reason to me. I think it might be the hatch trying to match up with both of the hatches from the adjacent walls... making it warp. But I dont know how to fix that.

Is there a solution to this yet? I have the same problem with a custom hatch pattern on walls created by the tool 'Wall by Face'. See attached. The wall surfaces are flat, but Revit is trying to warp the surface pattern for some unknown reason.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

Unfortunately I haven't figured it out. I've been putting a hatch region over the distorted area to manually fix it... Not the best way but that's what I could do for now.
I couldn't help but notice your hatch pattern and how it's stepped... I've been trying to figure out how to make a pattern just like that. Can you share the hatch or text you put into that Revit hatch pattern file? I couldn't figure out how to edit the code to make that stepped pattern.

I used mertens3d.com hatch 22 to create the custom hatch. You basically draw detail lines in a drafting view, and it automatically generates the .pat file with the pattern. See attached. Also reference http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GyX1Q0jyl0Q/R8ErLrot7eI/AAAAAAAAAFE/dYZBTxHEqcU/s1600-h/2.jpg for an explanation of how to create simple patterns.

Actually there may be one thing you can do. I think this happens when you add edges and points to a mass and them modify those points to make the shape you want. These planes may be slightly off axis or, even if they're not, are still different faces which revit tries to apply the hatch to individually. If you made that face of the mass only have four corners you'd be sure it was one plane... Now create a void mass in the shape you need and subtract this from the solid mass... Then apply the wall to the face. If this doesn't make sense ill upload a sketch of what I mean later.
