I am trying to apply a plaster material to an extrusion in my family and it's working on the bottom half but not on the top half. It appears the material is "fighting" with something else because it peeks out and I can see it "sort of" when I orbit. Any suggestions on how to fix this or know why it's happening?

Don't paint the extrusions add an actual MATERIAL to them.

They are two separate extrusions. I tried adding a material as suggested in the second post but that doesn't seem to be working either.

I believe this is a process error. Because the project rules (it over-rides any same named material changes to the family), and in order to understan how all this works, suggest you do the following:
- Open the family for editing.
- Pick each individualle modeled element in the family, one at a time, and in its properties, assign a new, uniqually named material that is unlike anything in your project.
- Now - before loading this family, save it with a new name - then load it.
- In your project, pick the old family and swap it to the new.
Learn from this....

You have 2 extrusions on top of one another, erase one and the material will work. Also you have a LOT of painted items. Make sure you use the REMOVE PAINT tool and remove ALL the paint.
