I have a simple Electrical Legend in Autocad that I have been using for years & I would like to use it again in Revit 2012.
It is a table made up of lines & text, with blocks as the symbols for the appropriate electrical fittings. So in Autocad days I just import the block into my drawing & explode once & just copy/drag the symbols onto the layout to populate my plan.
Can anyone help me with bringing it into my Revit file to use it the same way?? Or will I have to import my Revit drawing into an Autocad drawing & work with it there????
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Create a new family then import your CAD file into that, now load your family to project BUT here you have some advices: http://www.revitcity.com/forums.php?action=viewthread&thread_id=3987

Thanks a lot
I have imported the Autocad legend into a family & made all the electrical symbols into groups & left the text as text. It works how I want it in the family file, lovely as I want it. So I would like to just import it into say my Ceiling Plan & drag the group of say the downlight symbol to where I want it, etcetra, etcetra. I guess I am trying to use it like I used to use it in Autocad.
But when I do come to load it into my .rvt file it does not work that way. It is a fixed entity (a family I suppose), so I cannot use the individual symbols as I hoped. I cannot explode it there in the .rvt file.
I have attached the .rfa file

"... load it into my .rvt ... I cannot use the individual symbols as I hoped. I cannot explode it there in the .rvt file." - REVIT is not AUTOCAD, if you want to use "individual symbols" then create "Individual symbols" (you do that in CAD too)

Yes it looks like that is what I will have to that, its a shame as there are about 40 symbols in my elec legend & it would be good to use and not have to redo it again. Thanks again.
Its annoying because when its in the Family file it is just what I want.
