It all depends on what type of schedule you are trying to produce.
Can you give us more detail?

If you used the room tag strainght out of the box, and you creted a schedule showing the room numbers/names/etc. Then all you have to do is change the number right in the schedule. You can't add numbers, if the room does not exist.

First when you begin a new schedule, make sure you select "rooms". Then in the filed tab, add the fields " name" and "number" along with any other fields you need such as occupancy load, finishes, etc. You can get to this by right clicking on the schedule name or view and looking at its properties. Also make sure the correct phase in on in the filter tab or you won't see your rooms. You must have room tags placed in the floor plan on the corresponding phase for anything to appear in the room schedule. They are inherently linked and will generate in teh schedule automatically.
