for example , all new sections I want to have a section view template already applied. all new floor plans I want a view template already applied & so on... I used to know & cant find the solution - cheers for help

Applying and assigning a view template are two different things.  Views and view templates are not automatically linked. 

 

The best process is to assign a view template to each view that you really want to control.  Then before plotting or exporting, you should highlight all sheets and pick apply default view template to views.  This will assure that all views are correct as you have defined them.

If you are on 2013 views and view templates have ben re-designed to work as you are trying to do.
