I am looking for an efficient way to put actual 3D Spanish roof tiles on the ridges and hips of my roofs. Not just a fill pattern, but actual 3D objects. Anyone have some advice?

why not try the host sweep tool (roof fascia). we use this to add ridges/hips to all our rooves, so they look right. is a continuous thing, and will not look like overlapping ridge tiles. i suspect the revit experts might suggest you create an in-place family for that kind of perfection.
