Hi,
I am having problem inserting room and space into my model. This is like Botanic garden glass house type of building. I have a few rooms at lower level and a big space around. However I can not add room when I am doing so at ground level my room is cylinder shape instead of the half sphere. When I add at Level 1 Seems that there is no boundry at ceiling level. Any help would be appreciated. I am trying to export that to gbXML to do a simulation.

Did you set the height of your room?

Yes I set up height to top of the dome. However something is wrong...it seems that Revit does not like decreasing change in shape ?! not sure... I purged model and is now attached.

The height of the semi-spherical room needs to be set higher than the roof. Then, the dome will give shape to the room.

Thanks for your post. I tried to extend that above the roof but still have same poor quality and problems when exporting to gbXML. I was thinking about to make the top section flat and then when extending to the roof would be tiny flat surface. Not sure if that would help and also not sure how to flatten that top.

Well, now the room is of the correct shape. I don't know what happens beyond exporting to gbXML.

Please try to click on export gbXML and see if you have errors on Room Butterfly. I noticed that in Revit 2013 you need to set up the room and do not need anymore zones for gbXML export.

Yes. That space reports a warning, even thogh the space has the semi-spherical shape and is bounded by the curtain system. But, have you continued beyond the warning? Some warnings may be ignored.

Hi I tried to export to gbXML and then import into two simulation softwares: Ecotect and TAS. Ecotect did not import anything and TAS manage to get something. Interesting is the shape of space....
TAS managed to import correctly set up room including: shape, construction details, room names...

I tried also importing same gbXML to ies Virtual Environment 2012 and failed.. nothing was imported. See importing error and screenshots of all simulation version programmes.
I would appreciate if anyone ever manage to add room to space that changing shape especially if that is not a rectangle type of space.

You inserted the room - I see it. The problem appears to be that the sphere does not define the space so add room seperation line picking the sphere edge.
