Under Viewport Family Type Properties, you can add various types, but since it is a "System Family" it does not appear you can edit this family once a new viewport type has been added. Is there any way to delete superfluous family types from the Viewport Family once they've been added? It's like "You can check in any time you like, but you can never leave."

Purge will get rid of them, as long as they aren't being used somewhere.

All except the main original one which can be modified and re-named.

I tried that and was unable to get rid of all of them. Is there a way to query "select all instances" so I can locate the culprits? I would normally do this by going to the Families in the Project Browser and right clicking on the specific family, but the problem is that I cannot see the Viewport Family anywhere in the project browser.

Drop a view onto a sheet, then set it to the bad viewport type. Right-click, select all instances, then set them all to a good type. I just tried it in one of my projects, and it kinda works. It worked on a dummy type I just created, but not for one of they types that was already there that I wouldn't mind getting rid of. I don't know why, I suspect that it is either a system type, or that because it's in my template (which had it's beginning as an Autodesk template) Revit doesn't want to let me get rid of it. That or Revit is just being cranky again.

Thanks, that's a good idea. Yes, I know for a fact that the default type cannot be removed regardless of whether it is being used.
