I am new to Revit so this may be a silly question. I want to know if it is possible to set a limited combination of parameters for a family. Example: We use a certain type of window, that window is only available in particular sizes (a 3'x6' window is really 3'1x5'11). Is there a way to limit the width and height to a set list of dimentions I can choose from rather than an empty field to fill in with any dimention? The benefit being I don't have to go back and make sure the size I choose is an option. Only really options are allowed to be used. Thanks Post edited on 2006-01-12 00:25:16

Create a "type catalogue" of preset sizes. It won't restrict people from creating there own sizes but instead of doing that than can just load the set size that is missing. Have a look in the help file and at a couple of example type catalogues (which are included on most metric/imperial template doors/windows). If you still need some advise let me know. HTH.

We also have a few different window companies that we use for projects, and it seems like everyone's standard is different. Mr. Spot is right, a type catalogue is best. The simplest way that I've found to make one is to edit the family and go to "family types" and remove all the types that you don't want and add new types with the dimensions you do. We've gone so far as to "save as" the windows with the name of the company, just to keep straight who has what stock sizes.
