Did you try?

Now you will find that this guy's solution only works with one text version.  No control.

So now for the rest of the story......

When you place a spot elevation, you have a choice for a prefix /suffix.....Had you noticed these?   <<Your answer is here.

Kind of pulling your chain by answering your question rather than telling you to use your HELP... the first place you should learn to look.

You can read more about the already built in process in your HELP:

http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Revit/enu/2013/Help/00001-Revit_He0/1468-Document1468/1744-Annotati1744/1745-Dimensio1745/1776-Spot_Dim1776/1777-Spot_Ele1777/1779-Adding_S1779

Help is just a button away.

Re-examine all of the settings available in the type properties.  Change all of them one at a time and apply.  Makes sure you add some text in the other blank fileds to understand these ....AND READ THE HELP LINK!

I know that it is an older post but I am currently trying to figure this out.  In the family you uploaded did you notice that in only works correctly if you place it up/right, up/left but as soon as you try to rotate it to read from the bottom the text flips upside down?  Have you fixed this or know how?

Bringing back an old thread here.  I can follow the video with no problem.  However, the text added to the spot elevation isn't editable on the fly, without creating multiple spot elev families.  Any figured out how to do this?

The video cuts off right as he's about the change the text...I'm guessing it didn't work for him either.
