This problem has plagued me for some time now and I wish there was an easy way to do it but, at least to this point, it has eluded me. I've been charged with the task of incorporating the as-built points that our surveyor recorded in the field into our building model. He basically recorded the points into his survey equipment and exported a .txt file, a .csv file, and a .dxf file of the points.
I looked into the point cloud option but the survey equipment that we have doesn't export to the point cloud format and I don't have any experience with them. I know that they are mainly used with special equipment that we don't have and, really, don't need. The .dxf file obviously opens fine in AutoCAD but they can't be compared with the Revit model. If I insert the .dxf file into Revit, the inserted drawings just shows the points for each but I can't dimension to them, I can't manipulate them. If I explode it, the points go away and I'm in the same boat as before.
I'm hoping that someone out there has done this and knows an easy way to get these points in and be able to dimension to/manipulate them. Please help me... :-( Very frustrating. So close but very far. Open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks,
