I am using Revit 2013. I am working in a file that has a CAD file in it. When I am in a view where the CAD file is visible, the whole view becomes wireframe. It took me a long time to figure out the CAD file is the variable that is changing it but i have no idea why it would do that. Is anybody else noticing this? Is it a feature or a glitch?
Thanks

It could be a number of reasons. Is the cadfile linked? You said 2013, is your graphics card supported? Does the cadfile change only on plan view ?...3d view?

I know that this is an old thread, but I recently came across this same issue. Whenever a view is showing the linked AutoCAD file that I am using, everything gets forced to wireframe view type and lines will no longer show as hidden.

When you have problems like this, you need to include the Revit release you are using and your update status.
My first answer would be if you are using 2014 - then you must have update 1 also installed.
My second answer is - Is your video card in the compatable list? Turn off hardware acceleration and see what happens.

Revit 2013. Hardware acceleration is already off. My video card is not "on the list".

one of my elevations and 3D view showed as wireframe when it was under Hidden view setting.
I solved the problem by un-linking my CAD files, and then go to the problematic views, under view property, visibility/graphic overrides, imported categoreis tab, un-check all items.

Just as a follow up on this topic... The issue has not been resolved with Revit 2014. The easiest workarounds for this problem are to unlink the AutoCAD file or to just hide the the AutoCAD file in the view that you are working in. That seems to solve the issue every time.

Delete the view then re-create it.
We see this every so often with 3D views.
