Hi

I made a template file and after working on it saved it. I continued thinking that the template file is a project file . Now I want to save this file as a project file to enable worksharing. I tried doing a save as but the project file tab is greyed out. I also tried closing the file and changing the file extension to .rvt but still it dosent help as i cannot do a save as of a project file and enable worksharing.

You were correct in changing the file extension. I am not sure why it is not working for you. Try changing the file name as well when you change the extension to .rvt

When I did this it worked fine and I was also able to do a save as and enable worksharing.

Since you saved it as a template file, leave it as .rte and sart a new project and select it as the template to start the project. Now you will have a new un-named project file with the information contained the template file that you were using a a project file. Now you can save and named the file. I see this so often.

His problem was that he started working in the template file thinking it was a project file.

Correct. Leave it as a template file and start a new project using that file as the template file to start the project.  All the info will be there because he created it in a template file. Once he you saves it as a project file, he can delete the template file mistake. As I said, I see this so often.

Find the file you think you created as a template.  Open it and simply do a save as .... and DON'T choose template!

Something is corrupted.

Your not crossing the line between student and licensed versions, are you?
