Hey!
I've been using Revit for a few years, but am new to 2011 (from 2009).
My question is regarding the roof edit command. I have created a flat roof system, and since I'm dealing with a slightly sloping roof, I figured the Modify Sub Elements would be the perfect tool to specify exact elevations along edges and at points of created roof slabs.
As you can see from the attached image, I have a roof slab that I am attempting to edit in the Modify Sub Elements command, but the elevation point at the top of the slab as noted doesn't correlate to the dimension of the same point from the 0'-0" elevation point that the roof was created from.
What am I doing wrong or why is this information displaying incorrectly?
Thanks for any help.

It appears as though when you chose where you chose the Base Level for the roof it is placed at the bottom of the roof structure however the sub elements are taken from the TOP of the structure not the bottom. So a roof I created that is 7" thick at 0'-0" when I modify the sub elements to 10'-0" the top of the roof is actually at 10'-7". Verify that your offsets are correct.

Thanks for responding - seems no one is touching this one.
I thought that would be the case too - maybe Revit is only concerned with the placement of the structure, and the other stuff above it is secondary. But the number shown ( a difference od 4 1/4") does not relate to anything within the system.
This is super confusing for the user.

Take a measurement from your 0'-0" to the bottom of your roof once and see what dimension you get.

Ok, I just noticed something. In the properties window, there is a base level offset (from 0'-0") of -11.75". If I set that offset to 0, then I can do what you said, set the elevation to the bottom of structure, and it's right, just as you've shown.
All this makes sense except for two things:
1. Why wouldn't they place the green edit line where the elevation is actually being altered? (i.e., why does the user have to do the math do enter the right number?)
2. Since the base level offset is actually the placement elevation of the slab (the green line), why does my properties read 0'-0" off the base level (when it should read the alterable elevation in the "modify sub elements" dialogue")?

A more clear image of everything.
Elevation of the bottom of structure is the alterable elevation displayed (in this case, 9'-1").
Wonder why the graphic indicates it as the top of structure?
Also wonder why the height offset in the properties dialogue is incorrect? (In this case, it reads 0'-0" - why not 9'-1"?)
If I place a roof and enter an offset dimenrion, it's elevation is this offset.
Weird.

Why dont you use the slope arrow, change the slope arrow to and specify the head and tail heights?

Wow, I had no idea this tool was available!
I guess it would work where I have continuous slopes, but I have a few places where my concrete slabs are two direction slopes.
