I am wondering if anyone has run into this error in 2013.
Background workflow: The project is a residential apartment building. We create link files for each apartment unit type and link them into the overall apartment unit plan. In early design we had all of the apartment units in one project file. When we were finished designing the unit and ready to creat the link files and the overall apartment plan, we grouped the units and used the create link file froom group feature.
We use Revitworks door families with nested door families.
I am not sure that the create link file from group was responsible for the crazy error but here is the error. Each unit file has about 83 total families: doors, windows, casework, pluming, furniture, eqipment/appliances etc. Our unit files ballooned to 150 MB+. We discovered all 83 families had 2 or 3 door families nested into them. It is nearly impossible to think someone manually opened each of the 83 families and manually loaded in the door families. Has anyone else seen or heard of anything like this happening before? Is there a feature that loads a family into all fmilies in a project - not just the ones that are opened and check with the typical check box when you edit and reload a family?
THANK YOU for your help in advance!

I've seen something similar happen once, but it involved the Parameter Jerk addon. Whenever I'd use the workaround to
load parameters into an in-place family, those families would somehow end up in an other family I opened for editing
from the project.

Were the buildings before you grouped them already linked files?

No, they were not linked files before grouping. We have sucessfully recreated the phenomonon. It appears the converting the automatic convert group to link feature is the offending culprit. Has anyone else experienced this??

Here is the note from Autodesk. We are continuing to have this problem and it is contqagious. Once a family ot project file is corrupt, no matter how much you clean and purge it will replicate:
Thank you for choosing Autodesk Support.
I understand after grouping elements in your Revit 2013 project, converting the group to a link, and then editing some of the families in the converted link, you have found that the families contain unexpected nested families from categories you would not expect (e.g. Casework and Furniture).
Thank you for the initial information on this issue, and the files. I have found that this issue was recently logged with our developers (for another user). It looks like projects created with Update 1 or later, do not exhibit this behavior.
Note: I am also able to reproduce this behavior in the 2014 software (with the existing project file).
I am waiting for an update from our developers on this issue, and I will let you know when I receive it.
Best regards
