how do I get rid of the recently used projects at the startup (the huge icons)? I want it cleared out so that I don't have the garbage from the recent past.

Options, User Interface, uncheck 'Enable recent files'

Sorry but doesn't address the issue. I want the files OUT of the folder, not just "hidden" or "not visible". I want to CLEAROUT the recent files folder, including those that show up in the Revit icon in the upper left corner.
