Hello All,
I have a Revit model from an Owner that I am trying to Link and then bind in a new project made from my template file as the starting point for my project.
The Plan: I was hoping to link the model in and bind it to automatically get rid of all existing annotations etc without having to do it manually.
Try #1: Link went well, I tryed the "bind" and got the following error.
Unable to bind some link instances. Either linked file contains no 3d elements or there was an error loading its elements into the current project.
Try #2 I have deleted all extra views, sheets, schedules etc. gotten rid of all links and deleted all old CAD underlays and purged and repurged. I am down to bare bones model geometery and I am still getting the error. Any ideas on next steps?
Thanks for your thoughts!

"...Unable to bind some link instances..." << That sounds like there are links within links. Is that true? If so, I think those would have to be bound in the linked file first.
BTW - You do know that when bound, the file becomes a group. To edit you should ungroup but then you will also still have the group. So after ungrouping, delete the group from the browser.

UPDATE / more info
There was a structural model that I linked and bound into the architectural model when I started this process. I have since "ungrouped" the sturctural model as one of my attempts to resolve the error. All of this was prior to my post.
Where would I look for these links within links? There is nothing in the link manager in any of the tabs.

You open the model the owner gave you. I would think that is where the links are.

I guess I should be more clear. There are no visible links in any of the tabs of the link manager dialog box for the model I have from the Owner. It did have a structural model that I linked and bound as stated in my previous post.
Other ideas?

Instead of your process, try this. Goto an elevation view that is deep enough to show everything. Turn everything on and copy clip - paste into your new project - same place. You will get all model elements / levels and grids. Just no views or 2D stuff - which is apperently what you wanted.
