We got new Dell Precision T5500 computers (12GB Ram) in with ATI V4800 Fire Pro video cards and now receive errors in Revit MEP 2012 that have linked Architectural files in them. As for Drivers - we have tried both drivers that AutoDesk Recommends for the Revit MEP 2012.

We also have older T3400 (8GB Ram) machines with the same card and driver that have no issues.

What is happening, is when there is a linked revit background in the view and it is selected, the program will shut down with the following error:

___________________________________________________

An Error has occured while drawing the contents of this window. This window shall be closed.

Any ideas how to correct this?

Just wondering.

Bizzaar.

No idea. I have never come across a problem related to video card and selecting a linked file. I have never come across a problem of crashing after selecting a linked file.

Where is the linked file located in relationship with the local file ?

Try changing the view Visual Style, detail level etc. Maybe turn off shadows as a percaucionary measure.

Is it a big file ?

What is the model of ?

What6 is contained in the linked file.

What version of REVIT are both files ?

How are the PC drives mapped in comparison to the PC  that crashes and the one that doesn't ?

I have found it must be an error in the users Windows profile.  I reinstalled the Revit MEP 2012 in the administrator account over the weekend and it worked fine.  The main user came in this morning and tried it immediately and it crashed like before.

So now I am going to delete the users account later this week and see what happens.  I will post back the findings.

Sincerely,

Heinzk1

Well not exactly.  I did delete the user profiles and it did help a little but occasionally it will still cause and error if the link is selected.

This is only happening on 2 of our computers.  We bought 5 computers exactly the same but only 2 of the users are having this issue.

I am leaning towards it being related to the Video card driver but have no way of confirming it.  We are running ATI Fire Pro V4800 cards.

Sincerely,

KHeinz
