Hey all, looking forward to getting involved in the forums. About ready to start my first mechanical project in REVIT and I am taking the lead for all the MEP disciplines.
First off, I'm receiving arch models (3) from outside the office. I have them linked and overlayed into the "core" arch model, thus only linking 1 file into my new mechanical model.
My mechanical model setup is going decently. One thing I'm having trouble with is Grid Lines. I am trying to "copy/monitor -> select link" to copy and monitor grid lines from the arch file. But when I click select link, nothing happens. No error, the revit program just doesn't do anything. I can see in my manage links window that I have linked the arch model (obviously it shows up in my floor plan) but "copy/monitor -> select link" doesn't do anything.
Thank you in advance for you help! I hope it's just something simple I'm missing...

What does this mean? "...I'm receiving arch models (3) from outside the office. I have them linked and overlayed into the "core" arch model..." If this is what I think it is, why? << If you think about it, this single model has no levels or grids so how can you expect them in your model.
Your best process is to create seperate worksets for each model and link each one. Now you have the control you need and you will have your levels and grids.

Well the "copy/monitor -> select link" does work after all... It was so simple, I just needed to select the link in the view window... Ohwell, that's why I posted in the newbie section first.
I ended up doing what you said and linking each file to my model. I'll need to read up on worksets because I'm not even sure what they're for... That is how newbie I am.

Nevermind, I looked up worksets. Now I know. Still wrestling with the grid lines but hopefully I'll get that figured out.
