Hello;

I've modeled a terrain in Revit. The terrain should have existing roads on it and I am also required to do the roads in 3D. I'm not allowed to use sub-regions or that kind of projections on my terrain. If I take a section from some place on the terrain I have to see the roads as object being cut as layered objects.

Can any one suggest me a modeling strategy?

As far as I can think of here is what I'm planning to do: Using sloped pads between certain spot elevations of the road and dividing the road as much as possible into little pieces. but I also have to do the same process for pavements. And I don't know what kind of joining problems I will have at the end.

Beyond that I don't want to pay some extension called siteworks for revit, because that thing had to be made first by autodesk.

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand why you need to see layered objects in sections when this can easily be added as detail work.   We never model sloping/curved roads.  If you must do this then you should get the civil site works add on.  Otherwise, chack out this thread and pay attention to mbsteve's post.

Attached is a method to accomplish this there is also a software add on available which does this rather easily or at least it appears to, SiteWork by EaglePoint.

Also check this thread.  I started making an adaptive component road that has a very smooth top surface.  it won't help you model intersections, but it looks great as single long road segments.

Great. Thanks all for replying so quick.

WWHub: I agree with you about detail work, but I am a worker not the bossSmile They want it this way.

I have read this document before, this might work but it is not so much practical.

And the oscar goes to itsmyalterego, I liked your solution. So close to eaglepoint siteworks.
