Do most people use the thin medium and wide lines for your project or do you make your own lines with varying weights different from the out of the box. I have always wanted to know but never thought to ask. I have always made my own but it seems to be a little tiresom these days. i have different line weights set up for each scale factor and when setting view vis it gets old scrolling through my list. again just wondering if it is possible to maintain the out of the box and have your views look like there is enough line weight control to make your view look good.

I have 6 or so lineweights that I use. They're scaled so that they print at an appropriate weight regardless of the view and the scale.
In my Linetypes, I preface the line name with the weight of the line. IE: 1_thin, 2_med_thin, 3_med, 4_med_heavy, 5_heavy, 6_very_heavy.
Keeps my line types logically organized at the top of the list so I know what I get.

I have similar setup to 'itsmyalterego'; I have 10 line types to choose from and I simply list them as 1-10 with the appropriate lineweight.

We are similar to its except we don't prefice the number. We have not modified the scaling chart so our line weights are not sequential like its.
It took us a couple of years to modify our object style settings.

I have named our line types according to their use, e.g. Indirect Drain, Direct Drain, Electrical Connections. That is for plan work, for standard details I'm still using the OOTB Thin, Medium, Wide. I really need to get that cleaned up at some point (probably right after I find this "free time" that keep hearing about), but it's working for now.
