We are trying to get our Architects out of Sketchup and into REVIT for conceptual design and design developement.
Any advise ?
Resistance is futile but I would like to pave the road as best as possible.
The construction documentation people are up and running but dealing with SKP files from the architects is pretty much a do-over.

The "Realistic with Edges" view type mimics sketchup graphics quite well, so arguments that sketchup looks a lot better are becoming invalid. Revit conceptual stuff used to get ridiculed as looking bland and cold when shading with edges was the only option. (or renders, but often those were too time consuming.)
But sketchup is still a little more flexible--I'm told. with less of a learning curve.
Architects resist a new program that they see as limiting their creativity, because they're not familiar with how to make more complex geometry. I work in a smaller office however, where the architects--minus the two at the top--are also involved in day-to-day drafting on their projects. So everyone must know and get familiar with revit, and now the tides are turning against tools like sketchup because the time they're wasting by creating redundancy is their own and not a drafting team.
If this is not the case in your office, where architects perhaps assume more of a delegatory role--then I don't know what incentives they can have to learn a new tool.

I think your last sentence would be my best advice.... Ask them why recreate (or do-over as you said) something in Revit that was already done in Skp?
CD's account for the highest percentage of billable hours and if they are doing CDs in Revit (as they should be), Revit should take precedence as the go-to program. Once they realize that, then my next argument would be "if you are finishing projects in Revit, why waste time with conceptual and dd in another program if it is just being recreated in Revit anyway?"
I think every intelligent business person understands the cost of redundant work, so hopefully they will understand that. That's the logistical answer... As for the visual answer, you just need to show them how Revit Massing is very similiar to sketchup and creating and tweaking objects is not as complex as people think in Revit. (it sure has come a long way anyway).
Funny you brought this topic up as I was just hired by an interior design firm (who primarily use Cad and Skp) to show them how to use Revit. This should be a challenge to say the least...
