Hi Folks... Ive used Revit a bit but never started a project from scratch

When I try to start a new project and load the template Mechanical-Default_Metric.rte its doesnt load. I just get the

basic default setup whish is useless.

When I open the template itself as a .rte file I can see the mechanical disiplines but when i try to start a .rvt it wont load

Please help... i`m pulling my  hair out!

Thanks

Kris

Kris when you say " I load the template Mechanical-Default_Metric.rte its doesnt load" makes no sense to us.

Have you gone into the REVIT 'Options' dialog box to conform that the 'Mechanical-Default_Metric.rte' is in fact the DEFAULT template file when starting a new project ? If you clcik the 'New' button you are automatically put into a project using the above specified project template file. I could be wrong but t sounds to me like your default template file is NOT what you want. You can also browse to select the correct template file as you create a new project.

Again you are using incorrect 'terminology'. What do you mean by 'when you look in the library" what library ??? In REVIT a library is just a folder on the computer. There is no actual 'library'. Any folder can be a library. A USB stick can be a library. When you use the default mechanical project template file the basic families are pre-loaded into the project and listed in the 'project browser'. If you need more families then click the 'Load Family' button and load more families.

If you happen to have a pirated version of REVIT Then you may not have the families. If you have a proper installation the families are pre-loaded in the template file and or organized on your PC and available for loading. Do a search on your hard drive for *.rfa files. They should be there.

thats why i ask is what v, 2013 or what, 2013 should be loaded on line to get the library FOLDERS that you need or it will install with no templetes of anything. Just might be the prob. but i think he is on 12 not 13.
