I know this question is very subjective, but I was wondering  if anyone can help me answer how difficult (or easy) it is to create Revit Content.  In particular Revit MEP content.

For instance, how long does it take to create a Revit MEP air handler or other similar MEP type family parts?

How long does it take?  What does it involve?  Who does this type of work?  How much does it cost to have someone do it?  Can I (or a typical Revit user) create these family parts?

Thanks for any information related to Revit Content development.

"how difficult (or easy) it is to create Revit Content"

That is a very generic question and there is no simple answer.  It really depends on what you are trying to model, if it needs to be parametric, how detailed it needs to be, if it needs to be scheduled etc.

It also depends on how advanced you are in Revit if you wanted to make this stuff yourself.  If you are using Revit on a daily basis I suggest you read up on how to create families so that you are familiar with it.

As for who does this type of work.. that is also generic, but a Revit drafter with the right knowledge would be able to that and a pay rate would be up to you.

My firm BIM Consulting Services specializes in developing custom content for manufacturers. We are presently developing content for the largest fan manufacturer in the world. All content projects are different and vary in complexity. We'd welcome the opportunity to put together a content development proposal for any firm in need of these services.
