Revit has very primitive geometry generation tools - this must be a prioirity for improvement. Surely Revit needs at least the equivalent of AutoCAD 12's solid modelling tools. Problems I am encounterring are : - no spherical / elliptical or NURBS primitives - no intersection tool - if a solid is split completely by a void "cut geometry" then Revit returns an error - voids cannot be built up as multiple Boolean operations for subsequent cutting of geometry from solids - severely constricting. We need to be able to build up numerous solid forms via multiple operations, choose whether the resulting geometry is solid or void, and then proceed to cut / intersect / join resulting forms. This can't be done at present. The other major problem I am encouterring is that on copying and pasting of geometry into the same location, paramteric controls associated with the object don't copy. Will give up trying to form rebates of a fixed depth into a spherically based concrete shell roof form, for now. Basic roof form is OK and love being able to paramterically tweak all the controlling dimensions to come up with the right size / curvature and form. C Post edited on 2005-12-29 17:54:52

I am agree with you. The modelling in Revit is very limited, although, Revit can import NURBS from DWG. However, I think that is a nonsense process. As Revit can read NURBS from DWG, why not modelling the NURBS in Revit. Also the rendering in Revit is very time comsuming, and the rendering quality is below standard. Since VIZ is also from Autodesk, why not create a better work thought between these two programes. Such as modelling the building skin and rendering in Viz then import the geometry in Revit and do the documentation. Viz has much better flaxibilities then Revit in terms of modelling, and the rendering is much faster. Autodesk should conside this option.
