Hey all,
So far I've just dealt with the fact that I might get a few spikes and will have to smooth them out manually when importing from surveyors topo points. However I've just received the attached file. It looks really tidy when orbiting in AutoCAD as the surveyors have shown retaining walls well etc. However when i use this to create my Topo Surface I get alot of really nasty spikes all around my site due to revit trying to create it's own additional triangles!
Can anyone tell me the best way to deal with this so that I can get a site hich is somewhere near correct in Revit, (I don't really want to go round guestimating all of the spiked points as there are hundreds, possibly thousands if i checked properly).
Any fast help will be much appreciated.

Sorry but you need to create more points (at the base) in that retaining wall, also, if you have your building in your project why don't you create a PAD and you solve half of your problem?

You might also try simlifying your surface - Read this HELP topic:

it would be handy if I could take the mesh into another 3D package and subdivide the triangles to create lots more points, then after that looking at simplifying as hub said. I'll let you know how I get on ![Winking](/images/smiles/wink.gif)
Mmmm I couldn't find the thread Hub, do you have a link for it by chance?

JRPcad - That's the trouble with wikiHELP!!!! I hate it. we only use the installed help file here.
Simplifying a Toposurface
Simplifying a surface can improve system performance, particularly on surfaces with a large number of points.
- Open the site plan view and select the toposurface.
- Enter a value for surface accuracy, and click OK.
- Click
(Finish Surface).

Ahh cool, I thought you meant there was some kind of work around using it. I've used simplifying before, it's good for "decimating" te surface to keep the comp running well, but won't get rid of the spikes for me, I think if i can increase the number of triangles then decimate in revit, it will hopefully improve things.
